Default Japfest featuring IDC Round 5 - September 28th Mondello Park

Tickets for the 2014 Monster Energy Jap-Fest Show at Mondello Park on Sunday September 28th have just gone on sale as the build up to the biggest car show of the year begins. Tickets are available through the Mondello Park web site, with the advance booking offer of a free grandstand seat with every ticket purchased.

This years Monster Energy Jap-Fest will feature 'IDC the Final Fight', as the Irish Drift Championship finale brings Irish Drifting's tenth anniversary celebrations to a dramatic conclusion. The event will be the biggest yet seen in Ireland, surpassing 'Global Warfare' which was held earlier in the year, with an even greater number of overseas drivers (including Formula Drift's Vaughn Gittin Jr. and Chris Forsberg) lining up to try and end Ireland's ten year un-beaten run.

Jap-Fest is a single day event with the Irish Drifting Championship s its centrepiece, the show is well established as the biggest annual car event in the country and also includes the final of the Irish Time-Attack championship, Japanese only Touring Car race, the best of Ireland's Japanese car clubs and web sites and a Show 'n' Shine competition sponsored by car care experts AutoGlym.

The final round of the Irish Drift Championship will be made up of two days of action. The Semi-Pro and rookie competition will be contested on Saturday (September 27th) with the top drivers not only picking up championship points but also earning a chance to compete in qualifying for Sunday's main event. Sunday's 'Final Fight' will be all about the International battle as the Irish Championship has already been decided in favour of Duane McKeever.

Along with the best Irish drifters, past and present, attending here are the International Drivers Confirmed:

Vaughn Gittin Jr. (USA) (Monster Energy, Nitto Tyre, Ford Racing 850bhp RTR Mustang)
Chris Forsberg (USA) (Hankook.ie MCNsport LHD PS13)
    Phil Morrison (UK) (Drifworks AE86 7.4l V8 800bhp)
Steve Evans (UK) (MCN Sport, KP60 Starlet)
Mark Needs (UK) (Altenzo, JDM Garage G35 V8 Supercharged)
Martin Richards (UK) (Altenzo, Skyline R33 650bhp)
Lluis Lopez (Spain) (Aerokit, Nexen, S14 V8 650bhp)
Mark Luney (N.I.) (S.A.T.S, Lucas Oil, Nankang 1100bhp Supra)
Dawid Karkosiks (Poland) (600bhp Budmat S15)
Peitr Weicek (Poland) (650bhp Budmat S14)

    off his facebook page....

"While I will be attending the final round of the Irish Drift Championship at Mondello Race Track this weekend, I am gutted to announce we will not be competing in the event due to technical difficulties that arose during our win at King of Europe Drift in Valencia this past weekend. My team and I have exhausted all options and unfortunately we have no other choice. I still will attend the final round of IDC as a spectator and am pumped to spend some time with Irish drift fans, hang out with the Monster Energy crew, and watch some good battles go down!!! I am hopeful to return next year to battle it out with Ireland's best! Looking forward to seeing everyone this weekend at Mondello Park!"

ah right sure at least he'll still be there... I'm sure a semi-pro will lend him his car provided they put down the RTR mustang as a deposit

doubt he'd use somebody elses car anyway. his car broke at Gatebil too and came across as considering himself alittle elitist when asked would anybody in the pits have any parts to suit him to get the car going again.
