    Cheers lads!
Anyone have any experiance with this turbo?
As in: response and power output throughout the rev range?
Why is it better than a 2871r stevo?

Its journal bearing for a start so will last forever, everyone is mad for 2871 (Not all are R either)
Garretts units are plastic caged bearings also which are shit.
Unless you are spending minimum of €1000 - €1200 its not the entry level R.
2871R turbos range up to €2000 so the €800 quid ones are obviously nothing compared to a Japanese designed Tomei
Tomei designed the sr range on their genesis 2.2 engines also

The Tomei come complete with all brand new fittings gaskets lines ect ect and the range is aimed at directly competing with the HKS gtrs range which is imo was the best turbo for SR's till the Tomei came out. Tomei redesigned impellers ect for maximum power without any loss due to being journal bearing and aimed it directly to take on the gtrs which is as near as makes any difference €2000 new and all you get is a turbo no lines ect ect.

Ask adrian walsh what the proper 2871R is like on the cam, his was over €1500 worth so will be a good job but even at that its far dearer than a tomei and comes with no of the extras the tomei come with.

In my opinion its by a long stretch the best and most reliable SR20 turbo available and wont be touched on bang for buck.

M7960 400bhp rated road and lower rev range drift, for out and out comp spec go for the 450bhp M8270 rev its tits off

Opinions are like arse holes everyone has one thats just mine but i looked into it long before they started being talked about over here and bought a few out of japan.

The GT-SS is a gem also on road cars but for whatever reason the bearings are known to fail fairly regularly

doesnt the lad that bought your tomei turbo stevo have it fitted and mapped now maybe he'd be worth talking to to see what he thinks of it?

I had a .64 2871r fitted to a 2ltr sr running hks 264 step 1 cams and found it had very good punch down low but used to drop off pull wise up the top end, it was only when i swaped it to a .86 turbine housing that it really came alive, its an absolute beast of a car to go now

No hassle man, id try stay clear of used 2871 as theres no way that i know of checking if its a proper 2871R or just a 2871, theres about 30 varients i think at this stage :/

Ill message him and see, not sure if its finished yet? Id a 2871 on a sr and it was a belter of a turbo, it was the big intake machined housing, its on niall whealans 180sx now making 400bhp. Was all top end power. Dont take me up wrong im not running down 2871 but the normal garratt plastic caged units are poo compared to tomei was my point

Lads dont seem to know not all are R versions
