Did it bleed properly after you fitted new water pump? Is there hot air coming out of the cabin heater?

Make sure there is no air lock in the system, I made that big mistake and cost me an engine, they are very hard to get all the air out of them. Loads of info on how to bleed them properly online.

Main point is jack the front right of the car as high as you can to push all the air out to the highest point

the first think 2 check is that it the system is blead corrcetly, beside the filler cap ther is a bleed screw open the screw it has a cross-slot head fill the rad until water flows cotinusly from this bleeder then put backin the screw set the internal rad to hot and let the engine heat

up then after letting it cool down open bleeder and top up water if it still heating up it time 2buy a gasket

is it an m50 or m52 engine, the m50's are iron blocks and put up with a lot more abuse.
either way, your engine is shit
    its a 320 ffs,
rip that bitch out and fit a man spec engine!
for the cost of sorting the b20, you'll pick up a 323 or 328 engine, and with a few tweeks they are good for 220bhp
