View Full Version : Track Day Drifting - Wheels
Alright lads n ladies,
Right, i'm getting a set of wheels just for track days/ attempting to drift in mondello etc...
Does it really matter on width of rear wheels? Is 8.5" width on back enough?
Cheers in advance for any comments.
Wozza
What car have you? The wider/bigger the wheel the harder it'll be to spin em.
big may not be best...
RX7.. FD...
So 8.5 will do the job nicely...

8.5j will be fine its more tire width you need to look into...the wider the tire the more power your gona need for them to break traction...i run a 235/40/18 on my sil runnin standard ecu an iv no probs breakin traction

Ah it's grand...
They have their issues with rebuilds etc although enjoying it at mo.
I went with a single turbo conversion etc.. sitting at 300hp on standard injectors... when I upgrade injectors etc over to uk for a map, I should see the 400+ mark..
ive a set of wheels wozza that i had on my rx7 18 avs alloys 225 up front and 235 on backs with small strech, 650 euro if ur intrested!!!
Cheers for offer although looking for wheels a lot cheaper for track day. Found a set on site today so should be picking them up later.

if your new to drifting and have nice car like u do, i d go for 205s or wat ever u can get in a small wheel and tire combo, rx7 seem to have alot of rear grip naturally, less grip at the back will mean slower speed drifts and less snappy for a beginner

Cheers for that.
Yes, i got 8.5" wide wheels so will get the narrowest tire stretched onto them.
