Got this last week so thought I'd join the site it came from. I got it off a member on dtdirl who bought it off twailbait on here who built it.

Coming from vtecs to this mental turbo is a MASSIVE learning experience, never mind the fact that the roads of Donegal wouldn't be the most suitable for massive tyre widths and low offsets. It still struggles through the humps and bumps though :p

A quick pic the first morning outside work.

I've got a good few plans for it, mainly tidying it up, so I'll be updating this as I go along and all comments, good or bad, are welcome.

First thing I did was hang the front bumper up where it was supposed to go. I had an aerosol of BMW Sepang Bronze lying around the garage so I decided to give the steelies a quick dusting over to take the rough look off them.

They where already roughly coated in primer so I couldn't of made them much worse. I don't think they turned out too badly considering it took 5 minutes and no masking tape was used.

Here's pics of them on the car

I also replaced the old steering rack with one that was provided by Aaron in the sale. Really easy job on these, all I used was a Halfords tool set and a Lidl jack. bt:)

Really made a world of difference to the handling and counter steering doesn't feel like a struggle so much any more.

I'm on the lookout for some sort of exhaust at the minute, something a bit neater looking :)

It's quite enjoyable, I must say :D

I might give them a quick blast, means I'll have to tape up the tyres though haha

Nah, no NCT and I'm gonna tax it next month so I wouldn't wanna chance the hassle.

Wouldn't mind a nice open space to get the hang of it though.

A few bits arrived during the week. Got small bits and pieces off an MX5 breaker in Swords
http://i912.photobucket.com/albums/ac330/jsnmcclintock/IMG_0635.jpg
Nothing major, just a pair of mirrors to get rid of the tiny F1 style ones, a seat belt clip because the one on it didn't hold properly, windscreen washer jets and a throttle position sensor from an auto MX5.

Arrived home from work to find this lot in the front hall
http://i912.photobucket.com/albums/ac330/jsnmcclintock/IMG_0645.jpg
6 point roll cage, Cobra bucket seat, Sparco harness, two spare tyres and a touch screen laptop for the Megaquirt (I'm using it to write this too :D )

Cage, seat and harness

Fitted the seat today as it was a handy job seeing as the adapters where already fitted to the seats.
Old

New (needs a clean)

Also removed the stickers from the back bumper and the inside.

Have you got a black interior to exchange?

I had to take the seat out again because the steering wheel was at my chin while the pedals were miles away :p I just need to mod the bracket so the rear of the seat sits lower and I'm going to give it a good clean and spray up the brackets before I put it back in.

Nah the bits were part of the deal but I swapped my teg Type R for it so I couldn't fit the extras in the Mazda coming up the road :p Got them couriered up.

I'll see what happens, shouldn't be too difficult putting the cage in so I might as well since its there. ;) The welded diff makes it a hard car to learn to tail out though, wouldn't mind giving someone who knows what to do with it a go to see what it should be capable of.

ah yes makes sense now!

with regards learning to drift it, a welder will be the easiest diff to learn on so to speak.once the back is out they tend to stay out when ya lift off, where as on a lsd some cars will tend to straighten easier when off the power.

this car is capable though. here it is when it was non turbo

i took mine out for my first drift day about 3 weeks ago despite blowing the turboon the 3rd lap it was a great laugh. i was shocking id say get some good steering tires before u even bother heading out, but after a while i was getting it sorta sideways haha.alot of the pro drivers were telling learning in a car like mx5 will stand to you in future.

Big changes made this week.

Firstly, I finally got round to putting ducktail style spoiler back on after spraying it with the mirrors.

I had an afternoon spare so decided to tackle putting in the half cage. Was an easy enough job, just time consuming

Biggest update now. Sold the banded steelies and placed an order with Driftworks on Monday. These arrived on Thursday morning (the other two came on Friday)

Rota Grid Vs 15x8J ET0 front and rear :D
I had to take off the front 30mm Eibach spacers to fit them but it still doesn't rub as much as the steelies.

Got a few bits done today, changed the plugs to better heat rating ones as the old ones where getting blown out sometimes on high boost.

Also fitted the new brake bleeders and bled the system. Hydro handbrake finally working.

Also decided to fire some satin black on the wiper arms and fit new blades.
