Again, seen as nobody has started one....here it is.
Great weekend had, epic drifting and no hangover. Strange but nice.
Started Saturday in Fermoy as i did in 2011, calm, unstressed and hyper. Took a few run's to get the course and again the car was giving me a few issues but i powered on to qualify 7th on run 1 which i was delighted with after a safe run. 2nd run i said id go all out, pulling off a first place qualifier, only to be knocked off the top spot by Francy "flat" o shea, but i dont mind as he is a great guy.....was sickened for him in top 32 as he bowed out with mechanical difficulties. My top 32 battle was fun, me and Ross Kenny aka Matt Petty having the craic before and after the battle, but seeing me through to top 16 against Kevin Kendrigan.
3rd gear on entry was grinding all day but i got over it, until up against kevo, she just wouldn't select 3rd on both runs....which saddened me big time as i felt i had a good chance on a repeat of last year :/ But got over it and signed up for Team Drift on sunday, with John "Boost" Hickey and James "Grip" Spillane :P. We were told in briefing to attempt some mad overtakes etc, mainly for crowd entertainment and we didn't fail to deliver, with John even touching me on the first run out...loved every minute. We topped the points in qualifying putting us through to the final against the sexy bhoys in team disco......first run out i crashed into the tyre wall, dazzled by mike fitz's eyes, second run, poor John met the wall he had rubbed earlier in the weekend.....:( Which put a downer on it all, but gladly he was okay and we came out victorious, second round in a row.........so happy days.........:)
Drivers of the weekend, Paul "Magic Shaft" Mccarthy :P, some man to follow and lead and everything.......bmw's are te way forward. Jimmy deane as always was on the ball, defo a favourite to watch, Gavin Lenihan, what precision like, Brain Egan, for his angle coming into clip 4, Mad Bastardson for his perfect lines, same with Adrian Walsh. Seamus walsh for his balls out driving and Nicky Hallahan for his flawless up shifts on clip 6........so many more unreal drivers, defo my favourite weekend of drifting to date.
The night out............i didn't go out :)
Roll on round 4 hi :afro:
