View Full Version : oil cooler or alloy rad
right lads i have this poll up on driftworks as well but at the weekend in prodrift my car was getting very hot(boiling over) but i can only afford at the moment to either get an alloy rad or an oil cooler,.What do ya recon you owuld go for if you could only get one:)
if it were me it'd be both. but if i had to choose i'd get an oil cooler. have you tried using 100% coolant in your rad instead of loads of water, makes a big difference. oh and its cheaper to keep topping up your rad till you get a better one too. thats just my opinion.:)

Have you just the standard water temp or have you a oil temp gauge?
Could see which is getting hotter, most nissans dont seem to have problems with
coolant and as the gosson said use 100% coolant or a "run cool" additive..
My own car has the standard rad and viscous fan and the water temp is always
perfect even when driving really hard but i found my oil temp is quite high even
with my oil cooler so i'm gona put a small fan behind the oil cooler!
So an oil cooler might be better if ya can only go for one of them!
go for the oil cooler dude

I'd go for an oil cooler first especially if regularly used on track as nissans run very high oil temps.
But depending how much you have to spend you'd get an oil cooler and an alloy rad for €400!
oil cooler all the way, you already have a rad there so fit the oil cooler then upgrade the rad
id go with oil cooler too,run 100% coolant with a run cool additive as jay said, also grab a rad fan out of something like a fiesta and wire it to run all the time and you should be fine..anyway a headgasket is easier to change than big ends!!
I have an oil cooler for ya for €50. brand new in box, 19row
