So.... where do I start, most of ye know me for loving my hachis for so many years (got it back in mid 2006), I absolutely loved it, it ended up becoming a money pit sitting as a garden ornament for a long time till I got sense and gave it death for a few months till the inevitable happened

Without getting to down about it I decided to make a decision quickly wheter to repair/reshell or what, it was loaded with expensive rare parts which of most was salvageable thank god, So I began selling all that stuff and luckily enough hardly any of it is left, It funded me to where I am now,

I bought this tez with the intentions of turning it into a drift car,

So next plan of action is next free space Roco has he's going to put the lot together, Get it wired and then Martin Treacy to map it hopefully in less than a months time she'll be rolling under 1JZ steam.

hahaha the 86 is dead, well actually the shell is sold I've heard some crazy rumours about whats in store for it but I wont be doing it another member will be if it goes ahead, The mechanical side of things should be just about wrapped up with everything sitting in place for its last time, I think by the weekend it will be getting some custom stainless bits crafted for it and then just wire and map, sounds pretty simple lets hope it is, I think I'm gonna need coilys but sure I'll wait and see,

For the last 3 months Ive been at a dead end due to the smallest thing, Been sorted in the next few days hopefully, Its a minor clutch problem, The box is a pull type and the ACT clutch I got is push type the 2 dont go together without the right bits, everything else is mounted/mocked in its final place this is the only hiccup, only thing thats left is to get FMIC kit and full exhaust made up which can be done straight away after this then just wire and map, so close but still another bit to go,

Small update, no real progress made but were starting to get places,

The gearbox problem has finally been answered, All along I had a W58 box here that came with the engine, The W58 and R154 look very similar so obviosuly I couldnt tell the difference, I went off and spent a good bit of cash on ACT clutch and flywheel, After putting the lot together its obvious an R154 pull clutch isnt going to work in a push W58 box so after lots and lots of head scratching (3months to be exact lol) we indentified the box as a W58, :( , Christy has been very helpful and I dont think its his fault we all came to the conclusion the R154 must have blown in Japan and maybe just needed a replacement quickly and they had all the W58 stuff on the shelf or something and just put that in,

Anyway, where I am at now is, Christy can get me a R154 but it has the wrong bellhousing, DOES ANYONE KNOW OF A 1JZ BELLHOUSING ANYWHERE????

Another option I have is which I'm reluctant to do but would atleast get the car moving, I could get a W58 clutch set up and run that box for a while but thats more expense (buying a clutch flywheel etc) and still end up with a weaker box, It is an option though as I really want to get this car on the road ASAP would love to have it for the xmas hols,

So if anyone can help me out on the above please get in touch, the main thing is now we know whats wrong and how to fix it.

tweek
25-11-11, 09:38
They are as rare as hens teeth those bellhousings I think there was a crowd in Taiwan or tailand making copies but from what I've heard if you buy from Toyota Uk and get the vat off it works out about the same price circa 300gbp maybe a bit less it awhile now since I checked it out.give me a ring about it if you want jay.

Greg
25-11-11, 21:10
Sorry to hear about the gearbox woes Jay. I''ll keep an eye out for a bell housing for you.

1-JAY-Z
12-12-11, 15:10
Right the quickest and easiest way out of the bellhousing problem was just to order one could be waiting months for one to turn up 2nd hand and I eventually found one from a company in Thailand called K's Racing (worked out cheaper than 2nd hand ones in the UK), I done a bit of research on them and nobody had any probs so I said feck it how bad can they be, I emailed him a couple of times and he did me a deal on these, I know I'm going to want them down the line at some stage so I saved on shipping and got a bit off buying the 4 together,

21-07-12, 13:26
Sooooo, very slowly slowly making progress, Ive other prioritys going on at the min so only chipping away with this here and there, I bought a mani and inlet few months back and was going fit them when I was upgrading the turbo, I had planned to get the hard pipes made up shortly for the IC when I thought to myself that I'll have to get them modified again when I get the turbo so I held out for a few weeks and couldnt turn down the offer of this turbo for the money, Most of the time Im not a brand whore I just like value for money and this seems to be one of the best "cheap" turbos out there good for 500bhp based on Holset HX35

http://i50.tinypic.com/8yiagp.jpg

Was on the lookout for coilovers too and lucky enough a set of Cusco's came up for sale so picked them up few months ago too,

I finally have all the parts needed for the gearbox such a fucking nightmare I had to buy a whole box just to get the shifter housing and I still have to get it modified for it to suit, Toyota wanted €750 just for the shifter housing and linkage,

Its up with Yowdy at the min getting wired and hardpipes done, hopefully the next update will be a video of it actually moving lol,

I think about 2 years ago carpo brought in a Project Mu big brake kit that was for sale for peanuts I tracked down the fella that bought them but he sold them again without fitting them to some fella in Cork he doesnt know who he was or hasnt got his number, Does anyone know where these ended up? As far as I know they still havent been fitted to a car in Ireland just changed hands a few times,

Anyway thats all for now,

Seriously sick of this car at the min after losing all interest in it, its so close to been finished but I'm just kinda done with the car scene for a while, Ive no time for it anymore, 8k would take this the way it sits, €500 or less will have it driving and could be done in a weekend, I'll still keep tipping away locating the bits I need maybe I will actually finish it lol,
