need someone who knows their vw's, its a tdi passat, the car will start but wont rev at all, idles at about 1200rpm and will not take the rev, now i tried a new throttle position sensor and didnt change a thing, anyone an idea of what it could be?
i tried gettin it plugged in and it wont read the car at all, so i dont know where to go from here :confused:

Not driveable at all? I can plug it in if you came up to naas, got all the equipment here in the garage!

Different computers work differently! I had a car today pluged in today in a garage it read no faults, i pluged in & it read the fault and problem! No mess try another diagnostics computer and it might read the fault...
Gone into Limp mode by any chance ?

not jokin but we tried two different ones dude, it wont read the ecu at all

seems like it
pull the maf off and start it up, see if it will rev up then. did u get a new vw maff or one from GSF?

the maf went a while ago and got a vw one, i plugged the maf out and the problem didnt change
try swap in a new ecu, get a loan off someone or something....good chance the ecu is fucked as its locking u out/wont read.

have you a number for him? is limp mode where the car just idles at 1200 wont go higher or lower, accelorator wont made any difference to the revs
no it should still drive in limp mode, like a fucking dog but it should still drive...it wont go over 60mph and it will drop the turbo as well. but it will still move, hence the name limp home mode. yeah have a number for Geo. ill pm it to u.

must not be in limp mode, i remember when the afm was gone it drove shite but now it wont rev at all just idles

He'll prob have a good idea where to start.
is the egr stuck open or half open , have a gawk at it
ask barry leonard lad . he works for vw , audi ,merk !
Im sure he could offer you some advice or shed light on the situation .

looks mayb like injector pump trouble to me there electronic its reving high while ticking over and wont rev up with pressing throttle, wont read a fault unless eng man light on so nothing stored in computer let us kno how ya get on anyhow am curious now lol good luck with it anyhow...

intercooler pipe off,blocked cat.blocked fuel filter.afm.or map sensor on intercooler,check fuses.

Theres an engine fault light comin up on the dash, but stil cant read anything
Could be the egr valve or ecu is fecked cause you should get fault codes. Try move the egr a bit. Pull it right over and it should cut out

Ok checked all the relays, fuses and the wiring around the ecu stil no luck

right a bit more info, if i started the car it will idle perfect and show no warning light but once i hit the accelerator it goes straight too 1200rpm and warning light comes on, hitting the accelerator wont do anything to change it

That sounds like its going into LIMB Mode ted !
Could be wrong bu sounds like it anyway .

Pulled out the egr valve tonight thought it mit make some difference, it was dirty but nothing major cleaned it out and put it back on, stil the same

well mate just read your posts seen this before, their is a bung under the battery that clogs up letting water fill up resulting in water getting into the box were the ecu is. the plugs under that get wet and the car wont rev, just dry out and eletric cleaner works for me every time

good man, blew out all the air from around there and she reved up, but after driving it then it went back to the same problem then pushed the plugs and fixed again for a second so at least i know wher the problem is :)

sorted, one of the plugs going down into the car from the ecu had dirt on it, cleaned it and happy days! :D
