View Full Version : Question about tyre stretching??
The new rims i got for the 180sx
are
17 x 9 on rear
17 x 8.5 on front
What would be the safest, but the best size tyre i could stretch onto those rims that would look well and allow them to sit well under my wide arches??
Would 215's be enough
Thanks

215's will go on handy there be very little stretch.
Go for a 205/40R17 its the cheapest tyre in the 17" range and will have the stretched look,
205/40R17 on 9" rim

would look a little off if you only had the rears stretched
, go for both man ;)
True man, so wat size tyre for the front??
True man, so wat size tyre for the front??
same i guess just to be safe, shouldnt look way worse !
205 40 is stupid looking! I have a 215 45 on a 9 j check my front wheels in my tread. Ps u have no need to worry about rubbing arches unless u have biiiig spacers!
A lot of it depend on tyre brand too. I've had 215/45 stretched on a 9j and looked nothing extreme but still popped off the rim when it went down on pressure a small bit. Think 205's might bit too low stretched on for everyday use
so 215/40 on the rear, wat about the front???
205/45 or 205/40 perhaps!
I have 8.5j on the rear of the ps and had 215/40 on them already and it didnt look bad for a streched look i guess.
Try stay away from any tyre with a curb protecter like federals!

I like to run a slight strech on the rear, but i avoid at all costs streching the front tyres.
Only problem i found is when the tyres were cold and about 18psi, they would sometimes pop off the bead, was a bit annoying.
Clarkey.
