Ill start with a little bit of history~

Cylinder 1 seams to have been suffering from DET
http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i223/106s2rallye/CYLINDER1.jpg
Its only really when ya look at a good(ISH) cylinder ya can see how DET has caused it to eaten into piston number 1

and has left its marked !!

The angle on the cross hatch pattern appears to be wrong..
cheers for the comment! but how so ?
Its was done to Cp's spec?
More works Done!
Tho lots more works to do:p
As most know, unless ur buying crazy priced, well engineered s/s low mount manifolds, there is little... if anything..! to be gained from buying cheap s/s knock off manifolds for RB20/25 engines.
With this, and the turbo setup in mind..! Iv chousen the very itchy job of heat wrapping my standard Nissan manifold.
Now if anyone is going to do this for myselves PLAN it out first, cut a section and see how ur going to do every bit step by step n take a photot to remind you,
Kinda like this!!!!
http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i223/106s2rallye/27092010001.jpg
http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i223/106s2rallye/27092010.jpg
http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i223/106s2rallye/27092010002.jpg
Also u will notice half way through i coped it might be a good idea to wear gloves
http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i223/106s2rallye/27092010004.jpg
http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i223/106s2rallye/27092010003.jpg
After lots of glass all over the place you will end up with something like this!
http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i223/106s2rallye/Engine222004.jpg
And it would be rude not too!!!
http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i223/106s2rallye/Engine111010.jpg
(heard soaking the heat wrap in water first also works better but it was very messy)
Another tip ya might find usefull is clear hi-temp paint is good for sealing the wrap when its finished also stops its front getting all fluffy.
On the hunt for a nice RB20 fuel rail, as with most "Nice RB20 bits" there not all that easy to come by, so bit the bullet and sigh'ed.... that i wasnt gona paying crazy money for a lump of ally with some holes in it (Agian cough: Plazmaman!) no matter how tempted i was.
But but recken i made the most of what it with a bit of elbow grease...:D
http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i223/106s2rallye/Engine111015.jpg
Also as "Cefiro Panch" menshioned these plazmaman inlets manifolds are hardly cheap n i was a bit (only a small bit) anoyed to find that the Idle valve barcket that was weld'd in such away that caused it to warp,
Ok its always gona happen but you'd think Plazmaman would have sorted this before sending it? Just a taut and a bit of a rant but that life!!!!
hahah iv little to be worrying about!!!!
So ended up having to glue bits of sand paper to a straight and square block of wood, to get the bracket back straight n true...!
http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i223/106s2rallye/Engine111013.jpg
Last job for now was to sort out the lower runner of the Inlet manifold
http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i223/106s2rallye/Engine111014.jpg
The angle on the cross hatch pattern appears to be wrong..
CP say 30' - 40' which seam about right when i checked with a bit of paper cut to 35'
I thought you were meant to soak the heatwrap in water then apply it so when it dries out it becomes more taught:confused:
Thats what I do anytime I heatwarp anything. Bit sloppy and messy in places but keeps it all there and it doesn't come loose

Been flat out at work,
BUT
http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i223/106s2rallye/KILOKYO.jpg
been working over time late at night (sadly not getting paid time and a half) to get this RB lump back in gear!!!!!!
Engine aside for a min, I finally got the cage a Cusco 6 point dash avoider :p LOL sorced and in paint.
The 32 was rolled out and the nasty job of painting the cage in the NOT so well ventilated shed begain,
Even with: Mask, Gloves and Goggles i still managed to forgot to wear one of them at some point through out the painting.. :o
So after picking all bits of paint from the inside of my noise, scruding sticky paint from my hands and convincing myself "i could definitely see far better before i started painting this f'ing thing"
I was left with this!!!!!
http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i223/106s2rallye/Engine111008.jpg
My special home brew of hammerite gives a great bronze colour! I soon relised it really was worth all the hassle in the end!!!!
Back to the 32 in question my GTR bumper arrived, very happy to find it was in top nictch nick, with all the proper fittings etc.... couldnt resist getting the cable ties out and getting it fitted as soon as possable!!!!!!
http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i223/106s2rallye/Engine111009.jpg
note my very fancy engine stand! cost 10euro !!!!!
That brings us back to the engine!!!!
Bottom end built ! along with ARP head bolts awaiting head! ;)

http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i223/106s2rallye/MRTK.jpg
But didnt last to long as i remembered i had to put the Gerbox and prop back in.

Anway ended up finishing the day with the engine and box back in so from the under see looks like this!!!!!!

So back to the engine! well turbo!!!!
Running with a T3/T4 hybrid set up custom built from CR Trubos in the UK and i must say what a top bunch of lads to deal with,
Now i rang everyone in the UK who cater in the "Turbo market" and these were the first to stop and actaully talk about how they were gona spend my money and what spec i was getting the pro's and con's etc.......!!!!!!!

http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i223/106s2rallye/DSCF2904.jpg
(only coped thats only half of the piping i have:p)
In hoping that ill make some sort of intercooler piping out of it!!!! ;)
I also hope that I can tig it in such away so ill have a full continuous pipe from the turbo to the intercooler and vise versa from the intercooler to the inlet manifold so hope to only use 4 bits of Samco.

this is looking savage, how much was the turbo and what kinda power u gonna be looking at. i LOVE everything about this build.
extremly tidy man. fair play
Bit of an Update Not alot
(but every bit counts):D
New Intercooler piping! Excusse the black and blue tape havnt TIG'd it yet, but i was able to make both pipes in one piece, well 2 pieces, but ya know what i mean!!!
This is the turbo to intercooler pipe......!!!!!
(o on that note anyone have a RB25 compressor elbow? the elbow that bolts to the inlet side of the turbo)
http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i223/106s2rallye/DSCF2913.jpg
and the intercooler to inlet pipe...... ill need to weld a flange to this pipe for a dump valve but undecided on what make to run with!!!!!
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i223/106s2rallye/skyline1.jpg
More exhaust bits and insulation time agian..!!!!!!!!!
http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i223/106s2rallye/skyline2.jpg
Latest purchase was the tinny shinny water breather tank!
The one with the now new rad cap!! just incase ya cant see it.
Its n the top conner of this picture! bought it because there was now no bleed valve as it was connected to the old inlet...
http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i223/106s2rallye/skyline.jpg
So hopefully it will do what it said on the box!!!!
And yes i know i COULD have done with out it but gona love shinny bits:D!!!!
Sorry pic's are crap it twas the phone
this is looking savage, how much was the turbo and what kinda power u gonna be looking at. i LOVE everything about this build.
extremly tidy man. fair play
Many thanks guys its getting there bit by bit!!!!!
Turbo was about as much as ya'd pay for a 2nd hand HKS turbo that would flow less! and this is brand new with garrett warenty, so there is no question really
(well ill stop before i say anymore n lets see how it runs before i go on with saying how great it is really have my fingers crossed thats its the setup i want)
To be honest im not gona be quoting power figures at the min for my engine, but in theory this turbo should flow about 420Hp.
sweet, loving this thread! however, talking about making a flange for dumpvalve and what brand to use....DUMPVALVES ARE FRICKING HOMO!!
epic build thread chris, its a credit to ye, just see u saying about a dump valve their, tdp blocked of a few pipes on the bro s 32 and it gives it a massive pidgeon effect, if ur down in goldstone on the 5th ul see and hear it or just call over to JTOWN have a gander, just another option for ye:)
sweet, loving this thread! however, talking about making a flange for dumpvalve and what brand to use....DUMPVALVES ARE FRICKING HOMO!!
mmmmm! but ill have to run one i recken, but i was thinking of one of these.
http://www.tialsport.com/prod_bv_50.htm
why would you have to run one?? 95% of drift cars dont, im sure oul robbie in tdp would advise them at the first chance he got if they needed one!
yea but 99% of drift cars are flat out most of the time! with quick gear changing! i.e throttle closed but open'd again very quickly!!
i think im my limited view when driven slowly (i.e traffic and road day to day its not to good for the turbo?) pressure wave caused by the closing of the throttle quickly, can stall the turbo?
tho ill look into it more...
without meaning to clog your thread...its only internet myth about it damaging turbos. and sure flat out drift cars with 1.2bar boost etc being on and off power so much, that will be workign the turbo the most, hence why they come in red hot alot of the time!
some rb's, and also ca's etc never even came with recirculating dumpvalves, and im sure nissan spent alot of time and money researching what kills turbos! compressor surge sounds bad ass too :D
Hello all been long long time
Its to f'ing cold this weather to be out in the shed working....
Buts its xmass so time to relax a little :o

Also got this cool fitting which has been very handly way of getting a hose to before the throttle body for the idea controle valve. Just cuts its way into the samco hose and then bolts down n seals itself

Little Update!
As iv actually be able to do some work! new job has me away from this to much latly! tho i recken ill fight back in the next few days now!
First off HUGE thanks to Roddie at IceTronix sorted the 3 of use out with some nice carbon bonnets n to be fare there spot on!!!!! Recken i was home all of 5 min before it was on the car, sparked me in to life to get this finished.
http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i223/106s2rallye/ENGINEDONE16.jpg
http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i223/106s2rallye/22022011004.jpg
Above you'll also see the oilcoolers new home between the headlights alot of messing with the pipes to make sure they all ran ok n didnt kink but i got there! recken it evils up the front no end
Also thanks to "JDM" for the RB25 inlet elbow and spark plug cover, and to JoeyMc for letting me use this sand blasting box to get them all shinny n clean again.
Also after fitting the covers i found that the old metel clips that hold the coilpack loom in place had suffered from the heat and have become hard & brittle, so picked off all the plastic and out with the hammer to straighen them and used heat srink to coven them up again, recken they turned out well not a big job but dose tidy up the look of things!
http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i223/106s2rallye/ENGINEDONE15.jpg
I had asked here but no one answered, Samco ducting hose for AFM to Turbo gona give it a go, but recken it should be spot on for what im after! Now all fitted!! tho kinda hard to see in the pic's below, also thanks to Darren for the Z32 AFM by the way and side mount rail!
http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i223/106s2rallye/ENGINEDONE12.jpg
http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i223/106s2rallye/ENGINEDONE13.jpg
I had fitted the GTR injectors, but got alittle ahead of myself, as i didnt wanna start it with it over fueling like fuck with the big injectors and it might wash the bore, dout it would have but ya never know.
So ended up swaping back the old RB20 ones till i get it started and know everything is ok and untill my resistor pack arrives :)
http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i223/106s2rallye/22022011001.jpg
As much as i love this Plazmaman Inlet! if found a prob ! dipping it for oil is now not so easy!
http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i223/106s2rallye/22022011002.jpg
(yes i did scrach the water hose i had painted dam braded fuel hose! hence the rubber sleve that it wears now)
tho cable tie (is there anything they cant fix) and a rubber band will have to do for now to extend it under the inlet and to make it easy reach, still not easy but ill surrive!
http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i223/106s2rallye/22022011003.jpg
SO after all that i had to put the bumper on again before paint to make sure all is well n have a look what the bonnets dose for it!
http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i223/106s2rallye/ENGINEDONE7.jpg
Love this pic reminds me of a R31 (taken with the telephoto len, ya need it in my shed is so fucking small :p:p!)

Well hello from misty hill of Kiltokyo, seams summer has come early and mist is rising, (I hope the same for the mist that's hanging over this never ending project!) the light of day has made the kiltokyo garage warm a little, but no less cramped to work in but we work with what we have, got some motavation from being at the drift day in mondello on the 8th! So spanners will be back in action 2moro all going well!!!
Tho the hard ship of the fucked head has ment iv to rewrap the exhaust manifold as it got covers in oil and water when taking it off, and if I don't do it now it won't get done!!
And that note a huge thanks to*calicagesracing who came to my help in sorting me out with a new RB20 head, *guys are top sound and down to earth wouldn't have any prob in gettin work done with them...
Also another huge that's to Colom in*www.tridentmnfg.ie who gave the rb20 head a fresh skim, new valve stem oil seals, recut the valves and lapped them back into the head, all in no time at all and even with fast turn around I was always keeped up to date with what was going on and what it needed, it was even delivered back to me on a Saturday great service!!
More thanks to the guys in www.conceptua-tuning.co.uk mightn't be the cheapest place to get stuff but they always have it!
New metal head gasket and inlet manifold gasket were ordered and are here for 2moro's mission!!
