Ok,

Since I had the Mark II on the diagnostics and has shown up about it maybe running lean i've decided i'm gonna get it mapped before i do anything else. I had also planned mods in stages but ill see how that goes...

So my first stage was just a FMIC and some practice. Maybe in the new year I might look at injectors/manifold/cams/decat etc. After that would be a single and so on...

A bit of background on the car. I have NO electronics at all. I have a boost gauge and that it, not even a turbo timer. I'm ok on mechanicals but this stuff i'm not up to speed on at all.

What exactly do i need to get it mapped now? Is it map-able at all as is or what is needed? When i modify the car i want to do it once and once only so if it needs like a PFC or somthing maybe someone could give me a rough idea of cost?

Thanks in advance

Kieran:)

as far as i no it'll need to be then mapped after each mod....

like my cars mapped and will have to get the map adjusted now after i get my decat

true do your research and do it once
your could run it on a dyno to see if it is running lean first off,
if you want to go further get a pfc or sumthing along those lines dont get an apexi neo or safc cause you'll end up needing something more programable later
fmic wont benifit you too much unless you up the boost
but if your geting it mapped id get a decat, fmic, elecronic boost controller and a fully programable ecu

what exhaust and air intake your got

oh yea i forgot that part. Yea i kinda thought that. Everytime you mod it after a map you ideally need a remap to get the most of the upgrades, thats why id do it in stages and put all the bits on at once. I meant to say though, if i got it mapped without the IC would that make much of a difference? I get the feeling ive already answered that myself but anyway...

Oh yea I should have specified. As is it has a HKS intake, HKS iridium race plugs and an unspecified cat back exhaust. Engine wise thats it.

So i kinda need a PFC but would i need a boost controller or could that incorporate a boost controller, or would the commander do that bit?

When you say a fully programmable ecu do you mean like a pfc or somthing else?

Getting it on a dyno first isnt a bad idea, maybe i will do that to start with...

ya can get a optional boost control kit for the pfc, i have one in my car but aparently it not as reliable as lets say a avcr etc the pfc kit are supposedly prone to packin in

a pfc is a fully programmable ecu, they can be gottin with the boost controller incorporated into them but id steer away and buy a greddy apexi or gizzmo etc

where you thinking of getting it mapped?

Cool, thanks also. So maybe a PFC and then say a HKS EVC?? or the Greddy Apexi etc equivelant...

Dunno, had a read of the debate here, but was thinking either TDP or east coast customs...

eastcoast are dear imo
consider westward engineering he's good but im not kicking off another debate:D

I forgot about westward and they would be the closest too! I might give them a shout next week

What sort of money is it for a dyno run? And also for a mapping session?

mappin is bout 350 everywhere mate....

westward charged me 350 so did tdp

Nice one cool. Just checked; 50 quid sterling with ECC for dyno run and 60 yo yos in westward so ill try get that done asap
