Steeltechsheds.com Rallysprint on the 19th September in Rathcormac !!!!!!!!!
its all GO for the Steeltechsheds.com Rallysprint on the 19th September, that's next Sunday. Clerk of the Course Derek Power along with his committee from the Imokilly Motor Club (IMC) have pulled out all the stops in securing a top class entry for this event. Derek said in these tough times to secure such an entry is fantastic. The club put the work in and now we must make sure all things run smooth on the day.
The 2km course is sure to test drivers to the limit and there is plenty of room for some really sideways action on the smooth tarmac in the confines of the Corrin Event Centre. There is a huge spectator area where it will be easy to see much of the action. It will be a family friendly day as the action will be non stop with over 80 cars on track 3 times during the day.
This is the IMCs first rally sprint and they have assembled an entry that would do justice to any multi stage rally in Ireland. If its rear wheel drive sideways action one is looking for some of the fastest clubmen in Irish Rallying are ready to do battle on this event.
The big battle should be between the two who battled for the win at the Cork Rally Sprint a few weeks ago. That time Brian O'Keeffe took the win over Brian O'Mahoney. This time O'Mahoney brings out the Clio and it may suit the tight twisty course compared to the GpN turbo car of O'Keeffe. Irish GpN expert Alan Ring takes a BMW for a spin, that could be interesting, and the battle of the Starlets should be wild between Paul Mulcahy and Maurice Moffett fresh from a fine 3rd overall on the Wexford rally. If you are a fan of the MK 2 Escort well some of the best are here with the likes of Frank Kelly, Trevor Mulligan and Brian Lawlor. These lads always give 100%. If its high revs, then the likes of Damien McCarthy and Jason Ryan are sure to Impress. These lads ring the neck out of their Civics and will be close to the front come days end. An exciting entry comes in the form of Mike Deane in a 600hp Nissan Skyline (Drift Car).
Also in the bunch are the likes of east Corks Allen Treacy and Mark Dolphin to name but a few. Yes, its going to be a great days motorsport and all happening there in front of the spectator for the day. The action kicks off at around 11.15 with the first of 3 runs.
The club has provided a car park in a field beside the venue and this must be used. The Gardai have said that there is no roadside parking and any one doing so will be towed. You have been warned !!!!!!!
