View Full Version : What Boost are you Running?
Well All
Just wondering what boost everyone is running? And what mods have you to run that boost? What ecu/management? What Fuel?
Reason i ask is that my Sil80 has a few bits, s14 turbo, High Lift Cams, Fmic etc and im only running 0.7 (Standard). Is it advisable to leave it at this or can it be turned up to 0.9 or 1 bar?
Interesting to see what others are running. Cheers
im still running standard boost, but now the car is off the road for a while il be starting my build

running 0.75 bar at the mo i did have it at 1.1 with the power fc but stripped that out and dropped down the boost so run on a standard ecu for a while, will be gettin steel tubbs soon so might need some injectors too and up the boost again to about 1.2 or 1.3 :D

I'm running 1.1bar on a greddy turbo, it depends what pressure the turbo can keep
producing power at aswell, too much pressure and the turbo will only produce hot air,
which wont give anymore power!

running 1.1 bar , iridium spark plugs, uprated fuel pump, 2nd decat in, fuel cut defender.
When i take the 1st cat out then ill turn it to up 1.2.
With both cats removed it will reach as high as 1.6 , thats what the car will boost at if you dont have a restrictor ring fitted and a bost controller . But for ceramic JSpec turbos its safest at 1.2
We call this BPU (Basic Performance Upgrade) :)
At first i thought this was crazy turning it up so high, but lots of guys i know have ran BPU for years with no problems

1.2 bar gtss turbo nismo 555cc injectors z32 225 fuel pump power fc ecu and a few other bits. turning up and down boost is not a good idea if ur not adjusting fueling and ignition timing most of the above cars are mapped to that boost for the desired power.
1.1bar, nismo 555's,nismo fuel press reg, sytec fuel pump, apexi pfc, apexi rx6 turbo and full apexi exhaust incl mani down pipe etc... standard cat still in
wtf ste standard cat:eek: how why, who mapped it with all those mods and the most restrictive part of the exhaust still there, get rid of it and it will help the lag issue
im running 1.2bar trust turbo, hks injectors, 255 pump fmic, PFC, nd lots more
and lots more what, anymore bullshit 2 add ??
Cosworth YB and 2bar :D Yaaaaa ive got a big wang...er i mean turbo :D

in fairness how many people put the car on a ramp and look under it before it gets mapped?? its usually down to the owner to supply the info of the mods in the car ;)
im running .4 bar in the s14 with s15 turbo , fmic , aftermarket manifold , down pipe , decat , standard cat back 300zx air fuel controller , hks mushroom filter and few other bits , im hoping to get it remapped to a higher pressure its such a waste

agreed mick it was up to me i just presumed it wasn there considering the cars spec... hopefully it'll make a difference
I'm running proboost, thats the only but of boost i can get:D

true but would tdp not notice the air flow wasnt right on the dyno
i get what your saying mick ya cant expect a tuner to cheack every mod
if it improves my lag ill be doing backflips
will you get the car mapped again?
will it need it was talkin to colm onhere bout that... he's a sound lad... tdp want 120 for 1st hour and 80 a hour after that to make adjustments:( that after him gettin 650 off me when he had car last time
im sure it will need adjustments for the increased airflow
it will be a different car altogether:D
1.2 bar on the silvia ihi turbo 550 injectors z32air flow meter apexi induction kit oil cooler intercooler full exhaust walbro fuel pump hks adjustable actuator power fc running 336 brake and 333 torque
0.8 on the skyline intercooler hks actuator and 2530 hks turbo gtr fuel pump intercooler greddy i think boost controller and power fc 320 brake

The improvement the decat makes is unreal lad, you'll love it, much quicker spool up.
I bought my car totally standard, i noticed the difference every mod made, the cat back and decat went on and i couldn't believe it, even the air filter woth the custom cold air box i made. Everything else i fitted made a great difference to the car and i've a good few things left to fit yet:)
How's 1.5-1.7bar on a standard SR20 (Front mount, full exhaust system and an Apex intake) :D
Other than a bit of overheating, she was fine for 10 minute sessions round the track lol

We didnt know until it was diagnosed about a week later as it was getting checked out for the overheating problem.. Thought it was the waterpump, head gasket, blocked radiator etc etc... Never would have expected it to be caused by boost (seriously excessive boost at that lol)
